What are dipped airway buffing wheels? Dipped buffing wheels are manufactured as regular buffing wheels at the beginning but then later are dipped in a glue solution that hardens the mill treated cotton material to a very aggressive stiffness. Consider using dipped polishing wheels where only the most aggressive metal polishing operation are required. Which size polishing wheels work for me? If you are looking for a more detailed polish, the 8" wheel will suffice. When polishing a larger surface, then use the 10" wheel which is our larger wheel option. For those buffing a higher number of surfaces, the larger wheel is also more ideal because it can be worn down to a smaller wheel in return allowing for a more detailed polishing wheel to work with. Rake your buffing wheels.

How?

Spin the buffing wheel at its standard speed while the rake is securely held to a stationary bench grinder, hand held grinder, or lathe. Please exercise caution when performing this.

Why?

Raking your polishing wheel will remove hardened and burned on compound from the edges of your buffing wheel. Regular maintenance of your buffing wheel will create a more efficient buff as well as creating a smoother surface.
